Maria Santos Garza, 87, entered eternal rest on Sunday, March 27, 2016 at Edinburg Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Edinburg. She was born on Monday, March 14, 1929 in San Luis Potosi, Mexico. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband; Jose Juan Garza and brother; Isaias Rios.
She is survived by her sons; Ben Garza, David (Judy) Garza, Tony (Sandra) Garza, Jaime Garza and Rene (Judy) Garza, daughters; Lupita Garza and Sylvia Garza, sisters; Sara Jimenez and Ramona Pena, 11 - grandchildren, 17 - great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
Maria enjoyed sewing, playing "Bingo" and selling things at the Flea Market. She also loved strawberries and collecting strawberry knickknacks. She was a one of a kind, determined independent woman. She will be greatly missed by her family and all those whose lives she touched.
Her family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Catholic Mass will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 501 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Catholic burial will follow to Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, 1701 East Richardson Road in Edinburg. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers; Ben Garza, David Garza, Tony Garza, Jaime Garza, Rene Garza, Joey Garza and Justin Garza. Funeral services have been entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
