Maria Elvira Martinez, 93, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at Edinburg Regional Medical Center in Edinburg. She was born on Thursday, November 23, 1922 in Chamacuaro, Gto., Mexico to Angel Martinez and Antonia Carrillo Martinez. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Pantaleon Martinez and Refugio Martinez, brothers-in-law; Jose Flores and Concepcion Canchola, and sister-in-law; Maria de Jesus Martinez.
She is survived by her sisters; Ofelia Flores, Maria (Francisco) Rodriguez and Reyna Canchola, brother; Nicolas Martinez, sisters-in-law; Catalina Martinez and Sacramento Martinez, numerous nieces and nephews.
Elvira lived in Edinburg for over 25 years. She was a devoted Catholic and member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and attending to her plants. She also enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family. She will be dearly missed by her family and all those whose lives she touched.
Her family will receive friends today, May 12, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Catholic Mass will be celebrated on Friday, May 13, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 501 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Catholic burial will follow to Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, 1701 East Richardson Road in Edinburg. Her nephews will have the distinguish honor to serve as pallbearers. Funeral services have been entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
