EDINBURG — Maria “Mary” A. Reyna, 74 entered eternal rest on Friday, January 31, 2014 at McAllen Heart Hospital in McAllen. She was born May 27, 1939 in La Reforma, Texas to Antonio Aguirre and Jennie Smith Aguirre. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Juan Carlos Aguirre.
Left to cherish her memories are her sons, Daniel Romero, Jr. and Carlos (Marcie) Aguirre; daughters, Elsa (Bobby) Rodriguez, Elizabeth (Luis) De Leon and Mary Lou Reyna; brother, Eddie Aguirre; 12 – grandchildren, 9 – great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary worked for over 40 years in the nursing field working at McAllen Methodist Hospital, Edinburg General Hospital, Rio Grande Regional Hospital, Retama Nursing Center – San Juan and doing private nursing care. Her work ethics was noticed as she always wanted to provide the best for her children. She was a compassionate and loving person who will be missed by her family and those whose lives she touched. The family will receive friends today, Monday, February 3, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg. Christian Mass will be held Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edinburg. Christian burial will follow to Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers will be Carlos Aguirre, Michael Reyna, Christopher Rodriguez, Robert Valdez, Robert Rodriguez and Sal Gamino. Funeral services have been entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
