Maria Tijerina, 61, entered eternal rest on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg. She was born on January 28, 1953 in Donna, Texas to Ricardo Alviar and Maria De La Luz Lopez. She is preceded in death by her father; brother, Jose Antonio Torres and sister, Francisca Alviar.
Left to cherish her memories are her son, Joel Tijerina, Jr.; daughters, Priscilla (Paul) Torres, Michelle Ramon, Cynthia Rae Almanza; mother, Maria De La Luz Lopez; brother, Roberto Alviar; 6 – Grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Maria loved to dance and enjoyed spending time with her grandkids. She will be missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
Family will receive friends Monday, April 21, 2014 from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 pm in the Family Chapel at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg. Christian mass will be held Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at 10:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edinburg. Christian burial will follow to Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers will be Bobby “Beto” Alviar, Joel Tijerina, Jr., Jesse Ramon, Paul Torres, II, Derrell Alviar, and Adrian Alviar. Funeral services have been entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
