EDINBURG — Maria Angelica Valdez, 83, entered eternal rest on Thursday, January 1, 2015 at Edinburg Senior Care in Edinburg. She was born on May 4, 1931 in San Antonio de las Alazanas, Mexico to Jose Amado Lopez and Amparo Solis Lopez. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Margarito Valdez, Sr.; son, Arturo Valdez; brothers, Jose and Maciel, Lopez, Sr.; son-in-law, Henry Espinoza; daughter-in-law, Maria Celeste Valdez; and brother-in-law, Pablo Anaya.

Left to cherish her legacy are her children; Olga (Eddie) Luna, Sylvia Espinoza, Armando Valdez, Gracie (Heriberto) Garcia, Margarito (Mary) Valdez, Jr. and Norma (Israel, Jr.) Rosa; brothers, Salomon (Mina) Lopez and Luis Carlos (Delia) Lopez; sisters, Eliza Lopez, Guadalupe Anaya, Minerva (Jaime) Guerrero, Amparo (Jaime) Torres; sisters-in-law; Aida Lopez and Jesucita Lopez; grandchildren, Johnny, Eric, Gregory Allen, Rylie III, Stefanie, Laura, Michael, Charlie, Gina, David and Ashely, 15 – great grandchildren, 2 – great great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

She lived in Edinburg most of her life and was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Edinburg. She loved to give advice and was a great cook. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend who will be dearly missed by all those whose lives she touched; but her legacy will continue through the lives of her family.

Her family will receive friends today, January 4, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. with a Christian service at 5:30 p.m. and a Rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Christian Mass will be held on Monday, January 5, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1302 East Champion Street in Edinburg. Christian burial will follow to Palm Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Pharr. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Funeral services have been entrusted to Johnny Garcia, Manager and staff of Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
