Mary Lou Medina, 73, entered eternal rest on Sunday, November 29, 2015 at McAllen Medical Center in McAllen. She was born on Saturday, March 28, 1942 in Edinburg, Texas to Juan Medina and Aurora Villarreal Medina. She is preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law; Lupita Medina.
She is survived by her brothers; Alfonso Medina and Juan Manuel Medina, nieces; Ana (Oscar) Salinas, Sandra (Stephan) Kopytek, Claudia (Efrain) Salas and Felicia (T.J.) Parker, nephew; Juan Manuel Medina, Jr.
She worked for Vanity Fair manufacturing for over 25 years until her retirement. She enjoyed cooking, baking and shopping. She loved to travel across the country and visit other countries with her mother, nieces and family. She was a mother/grandmother figure to her family and the community of Linn-San Manuel. She was part of the Linn-San Manuel CIC Cook-off since its existence and a 4 H Leader for 20 years. She was well known for her menudo and breakfast tacos at her “Mary Lou’s Kitchen” area during the cook-offs. She was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church and was very devoted and volunteered countless hours to see her church and community grow. She had a heart of gold and will be deeply missed by her family, friends, community and all whose lives she touched.
Her family will receive friends today Wednesday, December 2, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Christian mass will be held on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anne's Catholic Church in San Manuel, Texas. Christian burial will follow to Medina Family Cemetery in Linn, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations to be made in her memory to LSM CIC, P.O. Box 345, Linn, Texas 78563. Funeral services have been entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
