Minerva O Santos

Minerva "Minnie" O. Santos, 73, entered eternal rest on Friday, October 20, 2017 at the Comfort House in McAllen. She was born on Tuesday, March 14, 1944 in Edinburg, Texas to Luis G. Ortiz, Sr. and Eulalia Serda. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Alejandro Ortiz, Luis G. Ortiz, Jr. and Paulino Serda, sisters; Elma Ortiz, Piedad Mandujano and Irma Gonzales, brother-in-law; Carlos Mandujano.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years; Gustavo G. Santos, Sr., sons; Gustavo (Elizabeth) Santos, Jr. and Adrian Santos, daughter; Lorena (Guadalupe, Jr.) Trevino, grandchildren; Amy Trevino, Guadalupe Trevino, III, Elyssa Trevino, Victoria Trevino, Brandon Trajan Santos, Steven Santos, Anthony Dean Santos, Brenda Lee Margarita Santos, Jacqueline Santos and Gustavo Angel Santos, sister; Elma (Eloy) Gonzalez, sister-in-laws; Hermila Ortiz and Carolina Serda, numerous nieces and nephews.
She lived in Edinburg all of her life and was an active member of the First Lutheran Church. She was a loving and caring person who touched many lives. She worked for the Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District as a substitute teacher for several years. She enjoyed cooking and baking, especially baking her famous oatmeal cookies. She had a "sweet tooth", so she enjoyed eating sweet bread and ice cream. She also enjoyed watching football and baseball, especially her Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends and all those whose lives she touched.
Her family will receive friends on Monday, October 23, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. with a prayer service to be held at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Christian services will be held on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church, 302 South Sugar Road in Edinburg. Having the distinguished honor to serve all pallbearers will be: Eloy Gonzalez, Eli Gonzalez, Nick Gonzalez, Trini Gonzales, Juan Jose Santos, Gustavo Angel Santos. Funeral services will conclude at church. Funeral services have been entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
