San Isidro, Texas – Noe “Chi Chi” Sigifredo Lopez, 81, died Saturday, July 30, 2016 quietly at his home in San Isidro Texas. He was born on Wednesday, December 5, 1934 in San Isidro, Texas to Dr. Jose E. Lopez and Leonor Olivarez Lopez.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister; Consuelo Ware, brothers; Jose (Alicia) and Tarquino Lopez, brother-in-law, Carlos Torres and sister-in-law, Mary Lopez. Noe is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Antonia Valdez Lopez, children; Michael Lopez, Cynthia (Nick) Tamez, Mary Kay (John) Bailey and Naomi (Troy) Elliott, grandchildren, Nicole, Alex, Ethan, Lexi and Grayson, brothers and sisters; Esperanza Torres, Hildebrando Lopez, Grace Reyes, Heliodoro (Lucy) Lopez, Carlos (Delores) Lopez, Javier Lopez and Omar (Patricia) Lopez, as well are many beloved nieces, nephews and dear friends. He will be truly missed by his family, friends and all those whose lives he touched.
Noe was born and raised in San Isidro, Texas. As an adult he served our country proudly in the United States Air Force and traveled throughout the United States and later as a government employee at Kelly Air Force Base for over 30 years. He traveled to England, Greenland and South American serving American’s safety and security interests.
He enjoyed nature and outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter. In his retirements he preferred to spending his time gardening, feeding the birds, tinkering in his shed, working on his model airplanes and catching the occasional rattlesnake practically with his bare hands.
He always enjoyed sharing stories of his travels, the wisdom to be found in the Farmer’s Almanac, hunting tips and just about anything from fixing lawn mowers and making his famous dear jerky. He lived a full life doing what he enjoyed.
The last year of his life not a day went by that we didn’t talk and he always closed our conversations, with “I love you- I love you all I pray for you all. “ with his daughter and family.
His family received friends on Monday, August 1, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. with a rosary prayed at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. A Catholic Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at San Isidro Catholic Church in San Isidro, Texas. Catholic burial with military honors will follow to the Lopez Family Cemetery in San Isidro, Texas. Funeral services have been entrusted to Johnny Garcia, Manager/Funeral Director and Staff of Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
