Oliverio Lopez, Sr., 79, entered eternal rest on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at Amara Hospice in Edinburg. He was born on Saturday, October 21, 1939 in Edinburg, Texas to Benito Lopez and Gregoria Villarreal. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife; Josefina Solis Lopez, Sisters; Aurora (Gabriel) Guerra and Diana Lopez, and brother-in-law; Felipe Herrera.
Oliverio is survived by his children; Dora (Ricardo) Ramos, Sandra (James) Flores, Oliverio (Cynthia) Lopez, Jr. and Jorge (Aracely) Lopez, grandchildren; Mindy (Adrian) Elizondo, Brenda Lynn Flores, Ricardo (Amanda) Ramos, Jr., Josie Marie (Alan) Garcia, Gabriella Lopez, Ashley Marie Ramos, Oliver Lopez, Rebecca Lopez and Kaitlyn Lopez, great grandchildren; Hailey Trevino, Emmalyn Trevino, Aurora Garcia and William James Garcia, brothers; Ruben (Ninfa) Lopez, Gilbert (Elva) Lopez, Mauro (Elma) Lopez and Benito (Francisca) Lopez, sisters; Elma (Ramiro) Reyna and Olga Herrera, numerous nieces and nephews.
Oliverio lived in Edinburg all of his life and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was a dedicated hard worker who owned Lopez Ceramic Tile for over 40 years. He was very friendly and loved to make people laugh with his jokes and witty smile. After retiring, he enjoyed taking his grandchildren and great grandchildren to school. He lived life to the fullest and he did it his way. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all those whose lives he touched.
His family will receive friends today, Friday, May 3, 2019 from 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM with a Rosary to be prayed at 7:00 PM in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Catholic Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 501 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Catholic burial will follow to Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, 1701 East Richardson Road in Edinburg. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers will be: Rene Lopez, Ricky Ramos, Adrian Elizondo, Oliver Lopez, Alan Garcia and Benny Guerra. Funeral services have been entrusted to Johnny Garcia, Manager/Funeral Director and Staff of Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home.
