Olivia P. Lopez, 80, went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 10, 2011 at Edinburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Edinburg. She was born on June 3, 1931 in Edinburg, Texas to Federico Perez, Sr. and Herminia Garcia Perez. She lived in Edinburg all of her life.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband; Feliciano Lopez, son; Ricardo Lopez, brothers; Florentino Perez, Fred Perez, Jr., Trinidad Perez, and Santiago “Jimmy” Perez, sister; Ofelia Chapa, and brother-in-law; Amando Chapa, Sr., all of Edinburg.
Left to cherish her memories are her sons; Mario (Janie) Lopez, Roberto Lopez, daughters; Elvia (Richard) Tressler and Sylvia Lopez, all of Edinburg, brother; Rodolfo (Zenaida) Perez, of Moses Lake, Washington, sisters-in-law; Ofilia Perez and Dora Perez, of Edinburg. Her grandchildren; Christina (Raul) Salas, Michael J. Lopez, Alexa Tressler, Andrea Tressler and Alyssa Tressler, great-grandchildren triplets; Drew, Cody, and Sydney Faith Salas and Allison D’Arrigo, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Olivia worked for the Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District for 23 years until her retirement. She was always full of life and was always encouraging students at school to always do their best. Her greatest joy was being around her grandchildren and great-grandchildren
The family will receive friends today, June 12, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg. Christian Mass will be held on Monday, June 13, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Christian burial will follow to Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers will be Raul Salas, Richard Tressler, Amando Chapa, Jr., Michael J. Lopez, Fred Perez, IV, and Anthony D’Arrigo.
