Oscar Leonel De Leon, Sr., 79, entered eternal rest on Friday, March 4, 2017 at Edinburg Regional Medical Center. He was born on Tuesday, November 30, 1937 in Eagle Pass, Texas to Mr. Felipe De Leon and Clara Perez De Leon. He is preceded in death by his parents, and sisters; Elvira De Leon and Bertha Martinez.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 50 years; Maria T. De Leon, children; Arceli Alcoser, Oscar Leonel De Leon, Jr., Veronica (Martin Garcia) De Leon, and Phillip (Viola) De Leon, 7 - grandchildren; Julissa Gonzalez, Nichole Gonzalez, Brandon De Leon, Kyra Gill, Amy Marr, Jada De Leon, and Clarissa Garcia, nephews; Joe (Dolores) Gonzalez and Jose Luis (Maria) Reyes, niece; Sandra Alcoser, and godson; Joe (Denise) Gonzalez, Jr.
Oscar lived in Edinburg most of his life and worked for the Edinburg Independent School District for over 35 years until his retirement. He enjoyed watching baseball, collecting antique cars, and walking his adorable chihuahua mix "Pee Wee". He will be missed by his family, friends and all those whose lives he touched.
The De Leon family will receive friends on Sunday, March 5, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Catholic Mass will be held on Monday, March 6, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 501 East Kuhn in Edinburg. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers will be: Phillip De Leon, Oscar De Leon, Brandon De Leon, Joe Gonzalez, Pablo Garza, and Jose Luis Reyes. Funeral services have been entrusted to Johnny Garcia, Manager/Funeral Director and Staff of Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home.
