Otila R. Valdez, 78, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at Lifecare Hospital – North in McAllen, Texas. She was born on November 16, 1931 in Los Ebanos, Texas to Medardo Villarreal and Concepcion Aguilar.
Otila is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Guadalupe Valdez Sr.; son, Guadlupe Valdez Jr.; three brothers; and one sister.
Otila is survived by daughters, Cynthia V. (Jesus) Cantu and Linda V. Veveros; grandchildren, D.J. (Annette) Viveros, Joshua Robert Viveros, Julia Ann Cantu, and Rebecca Nicole Cantu; great grandchild, Chloe Faith Viveros; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Otila was a loving and outgoing woman. Her beautiful laughter and warm smile was a constant reminder of her love and devotion. Her strong Christian faith was heard by all when she played the organ and accordion at the Primera Iglesia Bautista. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched.
Visitation for Otila will be held today, January 15, 2010 from 4:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg, with a prayer service to be held at 7:00 p.m. Christian services will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg. Christian burial will follow to Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen. Funeral services have been entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
