Pascuala “Maria” Herrera, 87, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, July 02, 2014 at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg. She was born May 17, 1927 to Juan Herrera and Benita Martinez Herrera in San Luis Potosi, Mexico. She is preceded in death by her husband, Cleotas Bustamante; her parents; brother, Soilo Herrera; sisters, Lorenza Aguirre, Remedios Herrera, Severina H. Hernandez, and grandson, Jose Luis Gutierrez.
She is survived by her loving family; sons, Marco Antonio (Maria) Sanchez, Miguel Bustamante; daughters, Virginia (Samuel) Sanchez, Josefina (Jose Luis) Sanchez, Imelda Sanchez, Maria Elena Gutierrez, San Juanita (Julian) Silva; brother, Nieves Herrera; sister, Guadalupe Herrera; 22-Grandchildren, Numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Maria, as she was affectionately known, was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She worked as a shrimp peeler at the Camaronera in San Carlos, Texas for over 15 years throughout the 1960’s and 1970’s. She will truly be missed by her friends, family, and all those whose lives she touched.
Family will receive friends today, July 3, 2014 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 pm in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral home. A Christian mass will be held on Friday, July 4, 2014 at 10:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers will be Jonas A. Saenz, J. Aaron Saenz, Abel Ramirez, Orlando Garza, Gene Iglesias, and Roman Garza. Funeral Services have been entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
