Peter Jay Brooke, 61, entered into eternal rest on Monday, February 22, 2010 at Rio Grande Regional Medical Center in McAllen. He was born on March 23, 1948 to Alvin Boris Brooke and Rhoda Sandra Levitch.
Peter is survived by his wife of 40 years, Mary Helen Brooke; sons, Paul Marcus Brooke and Daniel Aaron Brooke; daughters, Lillian Marie Brooke and Sandra Marie Brooke; brothers, Samuel Brooke and David Brooke, granddaughter, Alicia Maria Court Brooke; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Peter is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Robert Brooke.
Mr. Brooke served his country honorably and received the National Defense Service Medal in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a teacher in Corpus Christi/Flour Bluff I.S.D., Edinburg High School, and Mission I.S.D. until his retirement in 1997. He taught math and was a swimming and diving coach. His favorite hobbies were cooking, swimming, riding his motorcycle, and playing the guitar. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and teacher. He was also a volunteer at the Salvation Army. In lieu of flowers the family wishes that donations be make to Salvation Army.
His remains will be buried at a later date at Fort Sam Houston Veteran’s Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas. Funeral services have been entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg
