Piedad Mandujano entered eternal rest on Sunday, May 23, 2010 at McAllen Medical Center. She was born in Edinburg, Texas on September 16, 1932 to Luis G. Ortiz and Eulalia S. Ortiz.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Luis Ortiz Jr., Alejandro Ortiz, and sister; Elma Ortiz
Piedad is survived by her husband; Carlos Mandujano, son; Orlan (Amelia) Mandujano, daughter; Marla Mandujano, granddaughter; Alexandria Mandujano, brother; Paulino (Carolina) Serda, sisters; Irma O. Gonzalez, Minerva (Gustavo) Santos, Elma (Eloy) Gonzalez, sister-in-law; Hermila Ortiz, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Piedad was a dedicated teacher, having devoted her professional life to the teaching of Language and Learning Disabled students. Her students remember her as a caring educator who made learning enjoyable and creative especially for the holidays. She was a graduate of the University of Texas Pan American. Piedad worked for the Hidalgo, Monte Alto and La Villa School Districts. She will be deeply missed by all those whose lives she touched.
Family will receive friends today, Tuesday, May 25, 2010 from 3:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home. Christian mass will be held on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Edinburg. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers are Trinidad Gonzales, Claudia Paredes, Celeste Moreno, Gustavo Santos, Jr., Adrian Santos and Eloy Gonzalez, II. Honorary pallbearers include Lelando Gonzales, Nicolas Gonzalez, Adrian Gonzalez, Robert Ortiz, Jr., Lorena Trevino and Eli Gonzalez. Christian burial will follow to Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg. Funeral services have been entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
