Rafael "Coach Rafael" Garcia

Rafael “Coach Rafael” Garcia, 44, entered eternal rest on Monday, July 13, 2020 at his residence in Edinburg. He was born on a Thursday, August 28, 1975 in Edinburg, Texas to Ramiro Garcia and Sylvia Lopez Garcia. He is preceded in death by his mother.
Rafael is survived by his brothers; Steve Garcia, Ramiro Garcia, Jr. and Emiliano Garcia, sister; Criselda (Mike Carrera) Garcia and numerous nieces and nephews.
He lived in Edinburg all of his life and graduated from Edinburg High School in 1993 where he was a 4 year varsity cheerleader. He was a cheer coach for over 27 years and owned and operated Iconic Cheer facility for 5 years. He was also an NCA Coach and Judge. He had been working at Maximus Call Center in the customer service department.
Rafael was a very giving, kind, high spirited, loving, resilient and courageous person. He brought the best in everyone and believed everyone could accomplish anything, when they believed in themselves. He inspired many young athletes to continue to pursue their passion to the next level in cheering competition. He will truly be missed by his family, friends, students, but the legacy of “Coach Rafael” will continue to live through the excellence of competition of all his athletes as the years go by…
His family will receive friends on Thursday, July 16, 2020 from 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Rosary in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, July 17, 2020 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 501 E. Kuhn Street in Edinburg, TX. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park 1701 E. Richardson Road in Edinburg, TX. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers will be: Ramiro Garcia, Manuel Ybarra, Gino Garcia, Brandon Garcia, Damian Garcia, and Andrew Garcia. Funeral services have been entrusted to Johnny Garcia, Manager/Funeral Director and Staff of Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home.
