Rene Rolando Hernandez, 56, entered eternal rest on Friday, January 15, 2021 at McAllen Medical Center in McAllen, Texas. He was born on a Friday, January 15,, 1965 in Laredo, Texas to Dionicio Hernandez, Jr. and Ramona Olga Garza Hernandez. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother; Ronnie Hernandez.
Rene is survived by his loving wife of 30 years; Elisabel "Lisa" Alvarez Hernandez, brother; Ricardo (Belinda) Hernandez, nieces and nephews; Erick Hernandez, Abigail Hernandez, Ronnie (Albert) Moreno, Berlinda (Oscar) Guzman, Abel J. Beltran, David Moreno, Delilah Moreno, Isaac Guzman and Denaly Guzman.
Rene was an Edinburg Police Officer 3 and a Traffic Investigator for 28 years until his retirement in September of 2020. His favorite past time was being outdoors and hunting with his wife, family and friends. His family will like to give a Special Thanks to the Edinburg Police Department Traffic Division, Dr. Michael Jelinek and staff, Dr. Billie J. Marek and staff and to the staff at McAllen Medical Center (7th Floor) for all their support and kindness during his care.
The Hernandez family will receive friends today, Sunday, January 17, 2021 from 2:00 PM - 8:00 PM with a Rosary to be prayed at 6:00 PM at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg, Texas. Catholic Mass will be held on Monday, January 18, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 620 North Dunlap Avenue in Mission with Fr. Roy Snipes officiating. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers will be: Luciano Ozuna, Ramiro Reyna, Juan Villarreal, Jonathan Alvarado, Humberto "Beto" Salazar, Juan Tapia and Arnold Ysquierdo. Honorary pallbearers will be: Armando Celedon, Rick Cavazos and Andy Moreno. Funeral services have been entrusted to Johnny Garcia, Manager/Funeral Director and staff of Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
