Reyes V. Casarez, 89, entered eternal rest on Friday, February 4, 2022 at San Juan Nursing Home. She was born on a Thursday, December 1, 1932 in Javalin Ranch, Puerto Rico, Texas to Santos Valdez and Guadalupe Sanchez Valdez. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband; Jose Eduardo Casarez, grandson; Eduardo Casarez, III, sisters; Margarita (Felix) Solis, Olga (Miguel) Espinoza and Estella Sanchez, brother; Rafael (Emilia) Valdez and Sergio Laurel.
Reyes is survived by her children; Andrea “Andie” (Roy) Sanchez, Eduardo (Anabel) Casarez and Eugene (Dina Yvette) Casarez; siblings; Emma Cuellar, Irma Valdez Laurel, brother-in-law; Leo Sanchez, sister-in-law; Emilia Valdez, 10 – grandchildren, 7 – great grandchildren, 1 – great great grandson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Reyes lived in Edinburg all of her life and was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was a very devoted Teacher Aide for the Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District for 37 years. She was a very firm and independent lady who loved to help others before herself. She enjoyed cooking, traveling and most importantly were her children and family. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and all those whose lives she touched.
Her family received friends on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM with a Rosary prayed at 6:00 PM in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Catholic Mass will be celebrated today, Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 501 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers will be: David Chavez, Blake Sanchez, Noe Casarez, Aaron Casarez, Gene Casarez and Jakob Pena. Catholic burial of inurnment will be held on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at 9:00 AM at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, 1701 East Richardson Road in Edinburg. Funeral services have been entrusted to Johnny Garcia, Manger/Funeral Director and staff of Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
