Ricardo Martinez, 74, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at Arbor View Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Edinburg. He was born April 19, 1937 in San Diego, Texas to Apolonio Martinez and Teofila Maldonado.
Ricardo is preceded in death by his parents and brothers; Reyes Martinez and Jose Martinez.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years; Yolanda Martinez, son; Ricardo (Sofia) Martinez, Jr., daughters; Lariane (Jesus Zuniga) Martinez, Lucy (Ruben, Sr.) Quintero, brothers; Reynaldo (Belia) Martinez, Daniel (Severina) Martinez, Gilberto (Pura) Martinez, sisters; Evangelina (Juan Rene) Trevino, Maria (Daniel) Gonzalez, grandchildren; Erica Luna, Cristina Quintero, Ruben Quintero, Jr., Crystal Quintero, Mateo Saenz-Martinez, sister-in-law; Marina Martinez and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ricardo worked for Golden Jersey for 16 years as a truck driver until his retirement. He had a great sense of humor and loved to tell jokes, but his greatest love was his family. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. He will truly be missed by all of his family, friends, and all those who knew him.
The Martinez family received friends Tuesday, December 6, 2011 from 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg. A Christian Mass was held Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Funeral services were entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
