Rodrigo Garcia, Sr., 85, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his residence surrounded by his family on Thursday, July 10, 2014 in Edinburg. He was born on February 10, 1929 in Edinburg, Texas to Carlos Garcia and Felipa Pardo Garcia. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ernesto Garcia; sister, Eufrasia Farias, and in-laws, Cecilio B. Garcia and Dolores Garcia.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Ana Maria Garcia; sons, Rodrigo Garcia, Jr., Sam Garcia; daughter, Sylvia Garcia; brothers, Encarnacion (Maria Inez) Garcia, Eugenio (Gloria) Garcia; sisters, Celestina (Baudelio) Machuca, Gricelia Machuca, Graciela (Roberto) Benavidez, Alberta (Abdon) Lopez, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Rodrigo lived all of his life in Edinburg and was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. He was a self-employed plumber for 35 years and was a jack of all trades. He enjoyed spending time with his family and listening to conjunto music. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.
His family received friends on Friday, July 11, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with a rosary prayed at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 E. Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Christian mass will be held today, July 12, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1302 East Champion Street in Edinburg. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers will be Roy Farias, Carlos Garcia, Eddie Machuca, Eddie Benavidez, Ismael “Smiley” Garcia, and Eugenio “Gene” Garcia. Funeral Services have been entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
