Rogelio Alaniz, 88, entered eternal rest on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Senior Care Edinburg Health & Rehabilitation Center in Edinburg. He was born on Tuesday, September 25, 1928 in Edinburg, Texas to Lorenzo and Ambrosia Lopez Alaniz. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law; Elizar Garcia and sister; Armila A. Salinas.
Rogelio is survived by his loving wife of 61 years; Lydia Villanueva Alaniz, daughter; Norma (James) Parsons, sons; Roy (Kathy) Alaniz, David Alaniz, Daniel (Sylvia) Alaniz and Abel (Paula) Alaniz, brother; Francisco "Pancho" Alaniz and sister; Guadalupe "Lupita" Garcia, 11 - grandchildren, 6 - great grandchildren, numerous nephews and nieces.
Rogelio lived in Edinburg all of his life and was a member of El Buen Pastor United Methodist Church in Edinburg. He worked at the Cotton Gin in Mission and at the Citrus Association until his retirement. He enjoyed the ranching life attending to his livestock and also attending to his orange and grapefruit trees.
His family will receive friends on Sunday, May 21, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. with a celebration of his life at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Christian services will be held on Monday, May 22, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home. Christian burial will follow to Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, 1701 East Richardson Road in Edinburg. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers will be: Roy Alaniz, David Alaniz, Daniel Alaniz, Abel Alaniz, Alex Alaniz, Joel Villanueva, Jr., Frank Flores and Mark Flores. Funeral services have been entrusted to Johnny Garcia, Manager and staff of Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
