Rosa "Rosie" Elva Cuevas, 69, entered eternal rest on Monday, July 1, 2019 at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg. She was born on Tuesday, August 30, 1949 in Reynosa to Eleuterio Cadena and Victoria Lopez Cadena. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Oviedio Cadena, Miguel Angel Cadena and Victor Cadena.
Rosie is survived by her husband of 27 years; Apolinar Cuevas, son; Arturo (Ana) Hernandez, Jr., daughters; Rosa Elisa (Serapio Castro, III) Gallegos, Rosillo Elizabeth Hernandez and Rosario Eloisa (Demetrio) Orozco, brothers; Jose Guadalupe Cadena and Eleuterio Cadena, Jr., sisters; San Juanita Leticia Cadena and Maria Hilda Lopez, 13 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
Rosie lived in Edinburg most of her life and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She enjoyed playing BINGO Loteria, listening to music, but her greatest joy was spending time with all her family. She will be greatly missed by her family and all those whose lives she touched.
Her family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 from 1:00 PM - 9:00PM with a Rosary to be prayed at 7:00 PM in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Visitation will continue on Thursday, July 4, 2019 from 10:00 AM - 9:00 PM with a Rosary to be prayed at 7:00 PM. Catholic Mass will be held on Friday, July 5, 2019 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 522 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Catholic burial will follow to Palm Valley Memorial Gardens, 4607 North Sugar Road in Pharr. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers will be: Joel Gallegos, Alex Hernandez, Reymundo Gallegos, Earvin De La Rosa, Ivan De La Rosa, Jr., Apolinar Cuevas, Eleuterio Cadena, Jr., Jose Guadalupe Cadena and Demetrio Orozco. Funeral services have been entrusted to Johnny Garcia, Manager/Funeral Director at Staff of Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home.
