Rosa “Rosie” Alicia Valdez, 60, entered eternal rest on Sunday, October 3, 2010 at her residence in Edinburg. She was born October 11, 1949 to Ruben Gustavo Flores, Sr., and Genoveva Flores.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Ruben Flores, Romeo Flores, Roberto Flores, and sister; Alma Brandenburg.
She is survived by her husband of 41 years; Roosevelt Valdez, sons; Robert (Christy) Valdez, Roy (Elizabeth) Valdez, Richard Valdez, sister; Margaret “Maggie” Resendez, grandchildren; Robert Michael Valdez II, Rebecca Nichole Valdez, and Rachel Rose Valdez.
Rosie had strong faith and was a very spiritual person, but her greatest joy came from being with her family. She was known for her humor always smiling and very giving of herself. Her hobbies included sewing and crocheting blankets for her children. Rosie also loved going to the casinos. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched.
Visitation for Rosie will be today, October 5, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Christian mass will be Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in San Carlos. Christian burial will follow to Val-Verde Memorial Gardens in Donna. Funeral services have been entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
