San Juana "Grandma Pato" Rodriguez Ramirez, 94, entered eternal rest on Saturday, June 13, 2020 at Amara Hospice in Edinburg. She was born on a Saturday, March 27, 1926 in Mission, Texas to Apolonio Rodriguez and Julia Contreras Rodriguez. She is preceded in death by her parents, son; Adan Rodriguez, daughter; Leticia R. Walton, sons-in-law; Chris Sanchez and John Walton, and a grandson; Richard Ramirez.
Left to cherish her memories are her sons; Manuel (Emma B.) Ramirez, Ricardo (Janie) Ramirez and Ramiro (Cristelia) Ramirez, daughters; Maria M. Sanchez, Eva A. Alaniz and Elma I. (Fred) Perez, 17 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
San Juana was a life long resident of Edinburg and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she served as member of the Guadalupanas for many years. She worked at El Pato Mexican Restaurant in Edinburg from 1974 until her retirement in 1994. She enjoyed cooking, but her greatest joy was being with her family. She will be greatly missed by her family and all those whose lives she touched.
Her family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 from 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM with a Rosary to be prayed at 7:00 PM in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Catholic Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at 9:30 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 501 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers will be: Andy Ramirez, R.J. Ramirez, Adan Hernandez, A.J. Perez, Matt Ramirez and Mateo Villalobos. Funeral services have been entrusted to Johnny Garcia, Manager/Funeral DIrector and Staff of Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home.
