San Juanita “Janie” Ocanas, 57, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg. She was born on Wednesday, March 5, 1958 in Edinburg, Texas to Fidel Ocanas and Anastacia Cervantez Ocanas.
Janie is survived by her parents; children; Isabel (Joe) Torres, Jr., Roberto (Irene) Rodriguez, Jr., Jessica (Gabriel) Minge and Eric Matthew Rodriguez, brothers; Fidel Ocanas, Jr., Victor (Sara) Ocanas, Robert (Lisa) Ocanas and Daniel (Clara) Ocanas, Retired Command Sgt. Major, grandchildren; Selena Torres, Joe Torres, III, Robert B. Rodriguez, III, Sofia H. Minge and Illianna Rodriguez.
She enjoyed knitting, making jewelry, crocheting, and cake decorating. She owned and operated Paradise Beauty Salon for a few years in Edinburg where she enjoyed doing hair and pedicures while having conversations with her customers. She was a quiet person with a “Big Heart”. She was a very generous, kind, loving, giving and forgiving person. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother, whose greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. She will be missed by her loving family, friends and all whose lives she touched.
Her family will receive friends today, Friday, December 18, 2015 from 3:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Catholic Mass will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 501 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Christian burial will follow to Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Edinburg. Funeral services have been entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
