Santiago "Chago" San Miguel, Sr., 76, entered eternal rest on Friday, January 25, 2013 at his residence in Edinburg. He was born in Elsa, Texas on March 24, 1936 to Jose Angel San Miguel and Santos Saenz San Miguel. He is preceded in death by his parents, grandson; Santos San Miguel, Jr., son-in-law; Manuel Chasco, 1- brother and 2- sisters.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years; Maria Elia Cano San Miguel, sons; Santiago (Mary Ann) San Miguel, Jr., Santos (Esmer) San Miguel, Sr., Alonzo (Tina) San Miguel, daugters; Anita Herebia, Imelda (Ambrioso) Gallegos, sisters; Rita (Ramon) Fuentes, Esperanza Chasco, 3 brothers, 4 sisters, 20 grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. San Miguel worked for the Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District for over 20 years as a Bus Driver until his retirement in 2002. He enjoyed carpentry, farming, traveling, playing the accordion, and truck driving, but his greatest past time was enjoying a bar-b-que "Pachangando" with his family and friends. He will be truly missed by his family, friends and all those whose lives he touched.
The San Miguel family will receive friends today, January 28, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg. Christian Mass will be held Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Christian burial will follow to La Blanca Community Cemetery in La Blanca, TX. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers; Santiago San Miguel, Jr., Santos San Miguel, Sr., Alonzo San Miguel, Dimitre San Miguel, Imelda Gallegos, Javier San Miguel, Santiago San Miguel, III, honorary pallbeaeres; Esteban Cano, Ruben Cano, Feliciano Cano, Jr., Francisco Velasquez, Noe San Miguel, Noel San Miguel, and Jose Angel San Miguel, Jr. Funeral services have been entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
