Simona Gaona

Simona Gaona, 93, entered eternal rest on Sunday, June 12, 2011 at Life Care Hospital- North in McAllen. She was born October 28, 1917 in Monterrey, Mexico to Francisco Castillo and Maria Antonia Alvarez Castillo.
Simona is preceded in death by her parents, husband; Gregorio Gaona, sons; Rogelio Gaona, Roberto Gaona, son-in-law; Ismael Perez, and daughter-in-law; Ernistina Gaona.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons; Ramiro Gaona, Ernesto (Maria) Gaona, Felix (Ofelia) Gaona, Ruben (Rosalinda) Gaona, Reynaldo (Martha) Gaona, Raul (Irene) Gaona, Rodolfo Gaona, daughters; Martha G. (Alberto) Arteaga, Carmela Gaona, Micaela G. (Aaron) Saenz, Gloria G. Perez, Maria G. (Juan) Aguilar, 41- grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, great-great- grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Simona loved crocheting, dancing cooking and listen to music. She was the last surviving member in her family. She was a very strong, hardworking woman who was always happy and never gave up. She enjoyed traveling, but her greatest love was spending time with her family. She was a great wife, mother, grandmother and friend who will be missed by her family, but not forgotten.
The Gaona Family will receive friends today, June 16, 2011 from 2:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg. Christian services will be held Friday, June 17, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Christian burial will follow to Val-Verde Memorial Gardens in Donna. Having the honor to serve as pallbearers will be Mario Moreno, Rene Garza, Jerry Gaona, Joel Gaona, Adolfo Arteaga and Adam Gaona. Funeral services have been entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
