Sylvia Ann Alonzo

Sylvia Ann Alonzo, 69, entered eternal rest on Monday, March 10, 2025 at her residence in Edinburg, Texas. She was born in Edinburg, Texas on a Friday, May 6, 1955 to Simon Alonzo, Sr. and Severa Salazar. She is preceded in death, two sisters; Maria A. Reyes and Emma Alonzo and brother; Hector Alonzo.

She is survived by her son; John F. White, brothers; Roberto (Cynthia) Alonzo and Simon (Gloria) Alonzo, Jr., sister; Emma (Marc) Nesbitt as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Sylvia was a 1973 Edinburg High School graduate. While in High school, she was a member of the track and swimming teams. She had a love for all animals, especially cats. She was a loving person, read her bible daily and was known to many as having a servant’s heart. She will be deeply missed by all those whose lives she touched.

The Alonzo family will receive friends on Thursday, March 20, 2025 for a memorial service from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM with a rosary to be prayed at 6:00 PM in the Chapel of Peace, Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street, Edinburg, Texas. A memorial mass will be held on Friday, March 21, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 501 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Burial of ashes will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, 1701 East Richardson Road, Edinburg, Texas. Honored to serve as pallbearers will be: Roberto Alonzo, Simon Alonzo, Eric Alonzo and Hector Alonzo. Funeral services have been entrusted to Johnny Garcia, Funeral Director/Manager and staff at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
