Tomas Guzman, 73, entered eternal rest on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen. He was born on Thursday, January 29, 1942 in Edinburg, Texas to Vicente Guzman and Helena Vasquez Guzman. He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Enrique and Carlos Guzman.
He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years; Cynthia Aguilar Guzman, sons; Chris (Nelly) Guzman and Orlando (Laurin) Guzman, daughters; Cristina Guzman, Cynthia A. (Alex) Saucedo and Shari (Jorge) Salinas, grandchildren; Izaiah Juarez, Alayna Guzman, Alexis Faith Guzman, Jeremy Daniel Guzman, Luke Ryan Guzman, Daniel Saucedo and Clair Guzman, brother; Reymundo Guzman, sisters; Ofelia Barron, Arcelia Montez, Estela Ramirez and Abelia Cantu, numerous nieces and nephews.
Tomas lived in Edinburg all of his life and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. He worked for the Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District for 20 years until his retirement in 2005 from Memorial Middle School. He enjoyed spending his time fishing, Bar-b-quing, planting flowers and watching boxing, UFC and Football, but his greatest joy was supporting his grandchildren in all of their activities. He will be missed by all those whose lives he touched, but his family will treasure his memories in their hearts. His favorite saying was its “Never Goodbye, I’ll see you later”, and until we see you again, May God hold you in the palms of his hands.
His family will receive friends today, Sunday, August 16, 2015 from 3:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Catholic Mass will be held on Monday, August 17, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 501 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Catholic burial will follow to Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Edinburg. Funeral services have been entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
