Ventura Rios, 77, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, August 3, 2011. He was born April 17, 1934 in General Bravo, N.L., Mexico to Inez Rios and Herlinda Guerra Rios.
Mr. Rios is preceded in death by his parents, brother; Gerardo (Florinda) Rios, sisters; Santos (Adolfo) Garcia, Maria Ochoa, Bernarda Rios, Guadalupe (Nicolas) Martinez, and brother-in-law; Albino Guerra.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 49 years; Evangelina G. Rios, sons; Sergio (Laura) Rios, Sr., Omar Rios, daughters; Diana (Jorge) Ader, Hilda (David) Cudzilo, Olga (Alberto) Gutierrez, Estella (Luis Horacio) Garza, sister; Rosa Guerra, brother-in-law; Francisco Ochoa, 11-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Rios was a hardworking man with a big heart and a great sense of humor. Harvesting watermelon was his lifelong passion which he did for almost 50 years. He followed our Lord's example through his love and compassion for others. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be truly missed by all those whose lives he touched.
The Rios Family will receive friends, Sunday, August 7, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg. Christian mass will be held, Monday, August 8, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Christian burial will follow to Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers will be Ricardo Garcia, Daniel Cudzilo, Sergio Rios, Jr., Nicholas Ader, Omar Rios, and Alberto Gutierrez. Funeral services have been entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
