Veronica Perez

Veronica Perez, 81, entered eternal rest on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at at her residence in Edinburg. She was born on a Monday, April 29, 1940 in Edinburg, Texas to Daniel Villa and Martina Flores. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Alfredo Villa.
Veronica is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Jacobo Perez, her children; Martha Rebecca Perez and Francisco Daniel Perez, grandchildren; Steve Alvarado, Jr. and Melanie Rose Alvarado, brothers; Fr. Eduardo Villa and Jose Angel (Delfina) Villa, sisters; Candelaria (Monseratt) Miramontes, Hortencia (Oscar, Sr.) Salazar, Petra (Jose Gonzalo) Ramirez and sister in law, Irma Villa as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Veronica lived in Edinburg all of her life and was employed with John Deere for 35 years, she also worked for Texas A&M Extension Services and South Texas Literacy Coalition. Veronica loved football. Her favorite teams were the Edinburg Bobcats, Texas Longhorns, Dallas Cowboys and the short lived XFL's Houston Roughnecks. Her all time favorite players were Vince Young, Colt McCoy and Jordan Shipley. Her favorite coach was Mack Brown. She also loved basketball and baseball and almost never missed a televised Spurs or Astros game. Her favorite basketball players were Tony Parker, Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobli and her favorite baseball players were Jose Altuve and Carlos Correa. Veronica was also an avid UFC fan and her favorite fighters were Nick Diaz, Nate Diaz and Miesha "Cupcake" Tate. She also never missed a Rhonda Rousey fight, she would call her "La Rhonda". Her greatest joy and being their biggest fan and supporter for life was her family. Spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family and all those whose lives she touched.
Her family will receive friends on Monday, December 13, 2021 from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM with Rosary to be prayed at 6:00 PM in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Catholic services will be held on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at 10:00 AM in the St. Joseph the Worker, 8310 Highland Ave, San Carlos, Texas. Services will conclude for Veronica following the mass. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers will be: Frank Perez, Steve Alvarado, Jr, Adrian Garza, Ruben Garza, Jr, Noe Perez, Orlando Cantu, Isaac Carrales and Danny Luna. Funeral services have been entrusted to Johnny Garcia, Manager/Funeral Director and staff of Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
