Winnie Lee Asbell, 88, entered eternal rest on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at her residence in Edinburg. She was born on a Saturday, October 7, 1933 in Fort Valley, Georgia to Buren Lee Hutto and Thelma Winifred Dorsery. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband; John Dozier Asbell and her sister, Vatice Schmidt.
She is survived by her daughters; Helen Elaine Asbell, Elizabeth Ann Asbell and her son, John Edward (Dina) Asbell.
Winnie was a homemaker working hard to take care of her husband and children. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sierra Club of McAllen and Divine Will. She enjoyed to needle point, work on word puzzles, was an avid reader who also enjoyed watching Netflix and a fan of the San Antonio Spurs. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and all those whose lives she touched.
Winnie’s family will receive friends, Wednesday, November 3, 2021 from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM with a rosary to be prayed at 6:00 PM in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home 322 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Catholic Mass will be held on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at 9:30 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 501 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Services will conclude after the mass for Winnie. Funeral services have been entrusted to Johnny Garcia, Manager/Funeral Director and Staff of Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
